We’re big fans of Rich Mullins and his music. I can look back on one of the roughest times of our lives and point to specific Rich Mullins songs that encouraged us to keep going. More than once, the song My Deliverer played at just the right time.
While you may know Rich Mullins for his worship song Awesome God, do you know the story of his life behind the scenes? The new DVD Ragamuffin gives us a glimpse into what real life was like for this singer-songwriter.
Ragamuffin is based on the life of Rich Mullins, a musical prodigy who rose to Christian music fame and fortune only to walk away and live on a Navajo reservation. An artistic genius, raised on a tree farm in Indiana by a callous father, Rich wrestled all of his life with the brokenness and crippling insecurity born of his childhood. A lover of Jesus and a rebel in the church, Rich refused to let his struggles with his own darkness tear him away from a God he was determined to love. As he struggled with success in Nashville and depression in Wichita, Rich desired most of all to live a life of honest and reckless faith amidst a culture of religion and conformity.
I appreciate Rich’s struggles and the way he offered his gift. His music still leads us to the throne of grace today.

I got to see Rich Mullins in concert in 1996. As a teenager, I wasn’t sure about this rough looking guy, but my youth leader really liked him and shared his awesome music with me. If I win, I’ll watch it and then pass it on to my old youth leader and remind him how he helped me grow spiritually all those years ago.

This movie sounds amazing. I like the song “Sing Your Praise to the Lord”. I’m assuming that Propeller is sponsoring this giveaway and they mail to Canada. If I win and you don’t want a Canadian winner then I will have the movie sent as a gift to my friend in the States. Thanks for the giveaway.
