Do you love movies? We do. We also have a policy that we preview movies that Emma watches. We want to guard her innocence, and she gets scared easily. Watching a movie that messes with either of those things just isn’t worth it. We can find something else to watch.
We’ve been borrowing DVDs from our local library. That gives us a week to preview the movie and then let her watch it. The only problem we’ve had with that is the $1 per day late fee. Not that we forget to take things back on time….. But we often have to make a special trip to the library to return our DVDs. That’s especially fun when I remember they’re due late at night.
We’ve never signed up with any of the instant streaming movie companies, but that just changed. I just signed us up for a one-month free trial of Redbox Instant. We’ve rented DVDs from the Redbox kiosk before, but again…. You have to get them back on time. (Are you noticing that returning on time isn’t a skill of mine?)
What I like about Redbox Instant is that you can get DVDs at the kiosk or stream movies on your computer, smart phone, tablet, Xbox, smart TV, or Blue-ray player. And streaming means you don’t have anything to return! {happy dance}
With the one-month free trial I signed us up for, we get 4 DVD credits at the kiosk plus unlimited access to a streaming movie library for subscribers. Each credit is good for 1 overnight rental of 1 DVD. If you keep your DVD an extra night (ahem), it just uses another credit.
Once the free trial is over, the cost is $8 per month. With that you get 4 DVD kiosk credits and unlimited streaming. Or, if you decide it’s not for you, you can cancel any time.
