I’m forever writing myself reminder notes. Don’t forget to call so-and-so. Don’t forget to pick this up at the store. Some days I wonder how people operated before Post-It Notes.
The same is true for Scripture. I need to be reminded. I need the reminder to rejoice… the reminder to trust… the reminder to be still… the reminder of where I find my strength.
One way that my family keeps these reminders front and center is to decorate with Scripture-based artwork.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. ~ Deuteronomy 6:6-9
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates… ~ Deuteronomy 11:18-20
I think God’s direction is pretty clear in those verses. We NEED reminders. In the midst of our crazy, go-go-go days, we need to be reminded of the Truth that’s found in Scripture.
My friend Elizabeth has used her amazing photography skills to capture some beautiful nature scenes. She’s woven Scripture right into the images to create beautiful reminders for us. You can see them in her Seasons with Soul Etsy store here. Elizabeth gave me a copy of this print (my favorite one!), and I can’t wait to get it framed and hung in our office.
She’s also offering an 8×10 print to one Simple Pen reader. Leave a comment telling us which of her prints is your favorite (if you can pick just one!), and you’ll be entered to win.
Entries will remain open until Monday, March 25 at 9 p.m. EST. One winner will be randomly chosen (US addresses only please). The winner will be emailed and will have 48 hours to respond. If there is no response, a new winner will be chosen.
