Valentine’s Day… Does the mention of the holiday conjure up images of cards, flowers, candy, and fun? Are you anticipating a fun day or evening with your family or sweetheart? I hope so!
Valentine’s Day can be incredibly fun, especially when you have a family or other loved one to share it with. But it can also be quite lonely for some people.
Do you have a single friend?
Does one of your neighbors live alone?
Do you know someone who lost their husband or wife this past year?
As I’ve thought about Valentine’s Day, my heart has been drawn to these people. Those people I just listed? I know them. I care about them. And I don’t want them to feel left out or isolated on Valentine’s Day.
What a difference we could make for these people. What an important lesson to teach our kids…. Thinking outside of themselves. Looking to the needs of others. Just being aware.
My plan? Glad you asked. 😉
I’m thinking about sending Valentines from our family to some of our single friends. I’m also thinking about spending some time baking some goodies for them. Maybe some heart-shaped cookies or brownies? Or maybe bagging up some chocolates and attaching a little note? Wouldn’t it be fun to even send flowers? Anything to show them that they are not alone. That they are special. That they are loved.
Do you know someone who might need a little pick-me-up this Valentine’s Day?
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

My daughter and I always buy a couple of boxes of kiddie Valentines from Walmart and take them to the people at the local nursing home. You can get 25-30 of them for $1 at Dollar Tree and they really brighten up the day of the people who receive them.

I think it’s a great idea to do something special for singles on Valentine’s Day. It’s always such an awkward holiday for singles… Thanks for the reminder!

Awkward is the perfect word for it! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
