While I was at the mall today, I heard an elderly woman and the cashier having a discussion about credit cards. The cashier mentioned that she recently cut up all of her credit cards (YEAH!!!). The woman’s response was interesting…. “Well, you can’t earn points using cash!”
I couldn’t resist…….
I jumped in and told her that we certainly do earn points by using our debit card. I told her about our bank (National City) and their great points program. She really raised an eyebrow when the cashier agreed and told us that she also used National City’s debit card to get points. We told the woman about the gas cards, Lowe’s cards, and Toys ‘R Us cards that we’ve gotten.
Hopefully she’ll at least think twice before completing the credit card application that she was holding!
