CVS: Sending Coupons to Card Extends Their Life?

August 14, 2011

CVS has a new service available where you can send e-coupons to your Extra Care card instead of printing them. The control freak in me would prefer to print my coupons and carry them to the store. But my printer was on the blink today, so I sent my $5 off $40 purchase coupon to my card and held my breath.

When I scanned my card at the in-store coupon printing machine, I got several coupons (including free CVS bandages and a free Caramello bar). I also got a summary of what I had sent to my card. Yay! Now I had some proof that my coupon existed.

I was really disappointed that my CVS store didn’t have everything I was planning to buy, especially since my $5 off $40 coupon expired TODAY. When I looked at my summary of what was on my card though, I noticed that it had extended the date for the coupon! {happy dance} My $5 off $40 coupon is now good through 8/18 instead of 8/14.

So it looks like sending coupons to your card might have a nice side benefit. Not only do you not use your paper and toner, but you also extend the life of your coupons!
