I just wanted to take a minute today and give you our latest family update. We’re moving through Emma’s first grade year of homeschooling. She’s trying really hard to memorize her addition and subtraction facts which will make all of her math work much less stressful. I bought Addition Songs from Amazon and downloaded it to my Kindle. We use that each day to review the facts she already knows and introduce the new ones. I find myself singing “four plus seven is eleven” more times than I care to admit! We’ve also been taking a tour of America recently… from our kitchen table, of course. We’ve visited Williamsburg, The Statue of Liberty, and Washington, DC, and we’ll be headed out West soon. My parents will be our ‘guest speakers’ and share their amazing photos from their trip a few years ago.
Easter was fun around our house. We spent part of the week trying some different art projects. Emma got to experiment with oil pastels for the first time, weave a paper basket, and make some fun cards for our extended family. We colored eggs, visited with family, and even did a little Easter egg hunt.
I think that one of the highlights of Easter day for Emma was the time we spent trying to fly the kite that she found in her Easter basket. It’s the first one she’s had, and I don’t think I’ve seen her that excited in quite a while. Now we just need a really windy day!
When we’re not homeschooling Emma, Jason & I have been pretty busy with our design work. We just finished up a huge batch of Facebook cover images for some fabulous bloggers. We have some new site projects in the works. You can follow New Season Design on Facebook to get little peeks into our projects. (Notice that we have no cover on our Facebook page yet? It’s like the contractor whose house needs a new roof… Busy with everyone else’s!)
We’ve also continued to work with the Saturday night Ignite service at our church. Jason’s leading worship, and I’m singing with him. If you’re local, we’d love to have you join us some Saturday evening. The music is loud, the coffee shop smells heavenly, and the conversation is encouraging.
I’ve still been clipping my coupons. I haven’t been shopping quite as much lately, but I’m hoping to get back to CVS this week. Our stockpile is looking a little thin right now and could use some replenishing. We’ve been trying to eat a little healthier and cut a lot of refined sugar out of our diet, so hopefully I’ll have some recipes along those lines to share with you soon.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a minute to catch up with us!

Jen!
It’s great to see your picture with Emma and good to hear how well everything is going for you and your family! It seems like forever since I’ve seen you. I admit I’ve been bad about getting on your blog to check out new things, but I’m going to make it a habit now to check daily! So many good things that you post on a daily basis!
I miss you at the office, but I’m sure that everything is much better for you now with all you have going on….you’re quite the busy lady!
Take care and email me sometime when you get a chance so we can catch up!
