Make Your List, Check it Twice, Avoid Overspending

November 30, 2010

Christmas shopping season is in full swing! It was nice to take a break from all the deal-searching today and run a few fun giveaways for all of you.  (If you haven’t yet entered, you can see them all here.)

I just realized today that *GASP* I have yet to fill out my Christmas gift-buying organizer! That means that there are gifts in my gift bins upstairs just waiting for Christmas to roll around. The problem is that I don’t remember what all I’ve stashed there through the year. (Confession…. I did this once before and ended up accidentally buying two gifts for my father-in-law. It made it nice the following year when we already had a gift for him, but I was so frustrated that I’d spent that year’s Christmas money unnecessarily.)

So I’m here to remind you to make sure that you’ve made your gift-buying list – complete with a set budget for each person on it! – and that you’re keeping it up-to-date. That way, when a great sale comes along, you can figure out exactly who it best matches up with on your list.

On my to-do list for tomorrow evening…. I’ll be heading upstairs with my organizer to make a list of every single gift that we’ve already bought. I have a feeling that the majority of the list is done. But I’ll be ready to shop as soon as I know for sure!
