Most days Emma doesn’t even notice that we don’t have cable. We just don’t watch enough TV to make it worthwhile for us. We usually just watch DVDs or Hulu, and we catch college football games at my parents’ house. Emma loves watching her Nick Jr. shows at their house too. But at home? No Nick Jr. shows there.
So when we were asked if we wanted to review a Nick Jr. DVD, guess who jumped at the chance. 🙂 We did a little shopping online at the Nick Shop and ended up choosing Nick Jr. Favorites Vol. 5.
That gave Emma six different shows (several episodes of some!) for $9.49. That’s not even half of what a month of cable would cost us. Plus, the Nick Shop’s shipping is powered by Amazon, meaning that our Amazon Prime scored us free shipping. That works for me! You can check out our whole decision-making process (and some cute photos) here.
Needless to say, the DVD was a hit… especially over Christmas break when Mommy, I’m Bored Syndrome kicked in. The DVD arrived before Christmas, but (in one of my smarter moments!) I saved it for the week after Christmas. Emma and the dog curled up in the chair and watched the whole thing beginning to end, ending the boredom. See… who needs cable?
