One More CVS Trip – Got the $5 Candy ECBs

October 24, 2009

I stopped by CVS today, because I realized I only needed $10.50 more to get the $5 candy ECBs. I had coupons for LifeSavers and Nestle candy, so my out-of-pocket would be minimal. In fact, I spent $.47 plus $3 ECBs and got back $5. Here’s what I got. (Click to enlarge.)

Merchandise Value: $28.26
Out-of-Pocket Cost: $.47 plus tax
Savings: $27.29 (98%)

What I Bought:
3 LifeSavers – $4.50 ($1.50 each)
4 Nestle Crunch – $10.00 ($2.50 each)
1 Triaminic – $5.99 (I’m planning ahead!)
1 Always Infinity – $5.29
1 CVS Green Bag Tag (info HERE) – $.99
1 20-oz. Diet Mt. Dew (my coffee) – $1.49

Coupons Used:
$5.00 off $25.00 purchase flu shot coupon (info HERE)
-$1.00 off x 3 LifeSavers coupons from previous bags
-$2.00 off x 4 Nestle printable coupons (HERE – You’ll need 2 computers.)
-$1.50 off Triaminic coupon from 10/18 SmartSource insert
-$2.00 off Triminic CVS store coupon from previous receipt
-$5.29 Free Always coupon from a home mailer
-$3.00 ECBs

Out-of-Pocket Cost: $.47 plus tax
ECBs Earned: $5.00 (candy)

This was a great example of how holding onto free product coupons (Always) allowed me to boost my total high enough to use my $5 off $25 coupon. Without it, my total would have been less than $25.00.
