Our finest gifts we bring… pa-rum-pa-pum-pum
To lay before the King… pa-rum-pa-pum-pum
This is one of those Christmas carols we sing on auto-pilot, isn’t it? Yet when we sang it at church on Saturday night, one line jumped off the screen at me.
Our finest gifts we bring….
The Magi brought priceless gifts to lay at the feet of the newborn King. I don’t have gold, frankincense, myrrh, or any kind of priceless gift like that to offer to Jesus. I’m guessing you don’t have a spare stash of gold coins laying around either.
If we don’t have riches, maybe the gifts we offer can be our talents. But wait. I don’t pray like he does. I don’t lead like she does. I don’t sing, cook, or teach like they do. Others’ gifts seem so much better, so much more useful, just so much MORE than mine.
But He isn’t asking for others’ gifts. He not asking for gifts we don’t possess. He’s asking for our gifts. The best we have to offer. With all their imperfections.
Our finest gifts we bring…. To lay before the King.
That’s it. We bring our gifts – as insignificant and humble as they seem – and we lay them at His feet. We offer them. Then He picks them up and turns them into beautiful things that we never could have imagined.
Our job is simply to offer our gifts to the King. << Click here to tweet this. >>
What gifts do you have? Do you encourage people? Do you love speaking in front of a crowd? Do you love to bake cookies or pies for friends & neighbors?
If you think your gifts are too small to be of value, just remember that you can lay them before the King. He will amaze you with what He can do with your little gift.

Great post today. Now the song is on repeat in my brain 🙂 I’m also loving the reminder of what Christmas is truly about. Thanks for the realignment!
