I was teaching a class of 5th graders when my husband called me. He told me that I should be very careful to not alter my facial expression as he was talking. While that sounded strange, I totally understood as he explained what was unfolding. We didn’t have cable TV in the classrooms at that time, so the kids had no idea that their peaceful world had just been rocked.
I’ve been intrigued by the 9-12 movement that’s been going on in our country. Do you remember the feeling of patriotic oneness that swept our country after 9-11? That’s what this 9-12 movement is all about, recapturing that.
I think that 9-11 made me more aware of the evil that exists all around us. It has made me thankful that God chose for me to be an American.
