The Week in Review

September 4, 2009

It’s been a REALLY quiet shopping week around here. Have you noticed? Here’s how the week went.

Kmart
I did score big at Kmart this week. I ended up with $43.43-worth of merchandise for just $5.13. You can see my coupon matchups HERE. This was a pretty good Kmart run for me. Here’s the picture.

CVS
I truly tried to do a CVS deal this week. Really! I had a wondeful scenario figured out where I would spend less than $.50 out-of-pocket, use up my huge $15.16 ECBs from last week, and end up with $15.99 in ECBs for next week. But it hinged on my CVS store having the $6.99 Glade candles. No luck. Neither store had them. So I’m stuck with a couple of rainchecks and $15.16 in Extra Care Bucks. And a coupon good for a free candy bar. I guess it could be worse.

Kroger
I stopped by Kroger to pick up groceries for next week and for my mother-in-law’s visit (see HERE). I ended up spending about $65. (Sorry for the lack of picture-taking on this one. I’ve been feeling icky and just didn’t have it in me!) That’s what I usually spend at Kroger each week, so that’s not bad. It’s a far cry from the old days when I would spend that much on company coming and still have no regular groceries left in the house! I’m pretty proud of that!

And that’s it! Truth be told, I spent half the week sick. I didn’t go anywhere at all. I guess that’s one way to save money, but I truly prefer clipping coupons and finding deals to being stuck home with the sniffles.

How did you do this week? Did you stick to your budget? To see the deals that other snagged this week, stop by Southern Saver’s Friday Finals or Super Savings Saturday hosted by Money Saving Mom.
