My trip also included a $3.99 can of Spot Shot. I wouldn’t usually buy this at Kroger, but the dog is sick…. enough said? I had also planned to swing by Aldi to check for the produce and pantry items we needed. But I had Emma with me, and we’d already made three stops before we got there. She was being SOOOO good, and I didn’t have the heart to drag her another place. Can I just tell you how very thankful I am for the car-shaped carts at Kroger? And for the Clorox Wipe station that’s next to the carts? Emma is usually very good at Kroger, but she’s even happier when she’s driving a car cart!
The good news is that my $88.42 got me a lot. It took 3 pictures to fit everything. Here’s what we ended up with:
Was it just me, or did you notice the lack of a good price on frozen chicken breasts at Kroger this week? Usually the Kroger brand bags are $12.99 with a buy 1 – get 1 free deal for the 3.5 pound bags. If they’re not on sale, the Tyson ones are usually $6.99. They were $7.99 this week. Only $1 more, but still disappointing. On a positive note, Juicy Juice is on sale for less than the Kroger brand this week.
The Baked Tostitos are usually $3.79, and they were on sale for $2.99. I had two $1.00 off printable coupons (HERE – click the dollar bill), so they were $1.99 each. That’s not rock-bottom pricing, but we needed them for our small group meeting tomorrow evening.
I found some great manager’s specials in the bread department. We don’t usually buy the Tender Twist bread at Kroger, but for $.89 I figured we’d give it a try. The pita breads/flat breads are going to be used for pita pizzas (details HERE). Their best-if-used-by dates are coming up before we’ll use all of them, so two packs went directly in the freezer. Anyone ever frozen pitas? I figure it won’t hurt anything if they’re a little crispy when they come out. They’re going to be baked to make them crispy anyhow. We’ll see how that little experiment goes!
