Oh just looking at this picture makes me want to grab a good book and a fuzzy blanket and curl up on the couch for the day! I LOVE it when it snows like this!
But sadly it’s almost Christmas, and we have yet to have a really good snow. In fact, we had some light snow that stuck a bit yesterday, and Emma immediately begged to go out and play in the snow. At least there was enough to make a few tiny snowballs to throw at the side of the house. 🙂
We’re still waiting for the first big snow, but oh my is it COLD! It makes me want to stay home where it’s warm and cozy. But we’ve had a few last-minute Christmas errands to run, making us a little chilly and our schedules a little crazy. One of my biggest dilemmas when we’re running errands like that is dinner. I don’t really want to spend an extra hour to eat dinner out somewhere, fast food hasn’t sounded too appealing, and I don’t want cold sandwiches when we get home. So when The Motherhood asked us to review Marie Callender’s pot pies, I thought that might be a simple solution to our problem.
My first surprise with the Marie Callender’s pot pies was the selection of flavors. The last time I bought pot pies, the choice was Chicken or Turkey. This time I got to choose from Chicken, Turkey, Beef, Creamy Mushroom, Creamy Parmesan, Honey Roasted Chicken, or Cheesy Chicken. Oh my! Of course, we’re pretty traditional, so we ended up with Chicken for me and Turkey for Jason. Emma opted for the smaller sized Turkey for herself. I love that there are different sizes to fit our family. And they were priced under $3.00 each.
The pot pies were quick and easy to prep and get in the oven, and I was able to work some other things while they baked. They smelled SO good! When they were done, we each added a glass of milk and were ready to go.
One of us was a wee bit skeptical…….
I think she was surprised to find the turkey and veggies inside, even though that’s what she saw on the package. In her mind pie is dessert. But she was willing to give it a try. I guess the final verdict is pretty clear.
The pot pies were a hit. They were quick, easy, and tasty. And with no preservatives, I feel good about what I’m feeding my family. It certainly beats fast food on those hurried days. And who doesn’t love a warm, homey meal like this when it’s cold outside!?
