We’re huge fans of Compassion International around here. We’ve sponsored our Compassion child, Liliose, for 15 years. Laura from Heavenly Homemakers brought a Compassion need to my attention this evening.
Meet Achile.
Achile is an 8-year-old boy in Burkina Faso with a congenital heart defect known as tetralogy of Fallot. Because of Achile’s heart condition, he has been in pain for five years and hasn’t been able to attend school regularly.
Compassion International has provided medical care for Achile for the last two years at the National Teaching Hospital Yalgado Ouedraogo in Burkina Faso in western Africa. However, doctors there now believe his condition requires urgent heart surgery, which is not available in Burkina Faso. Achile will be transported to a specialized hospital in India for a lifesaving operation that will cost $20,449.
Compassion is asking everyone to get involved by giving a one-time contribution toward the costs of Achile’s surgery. While my husband and I would love to contribute, we need to cover a pressing need for our own Compassion child. (Her kitchen collapsed during some recent heavy rains.)
I thought that I could help in a different way.
If you are willing to make a one-time contribution of at least $5.00 to Achile’s care, I will enter your name into a drawing to win a 3-month advertising space on Saving & Giving*. Simply go HERE to make your donation. Then come back and enter your name and email address in the form below. All information will be kept confidential. I will choose a random winner from all entrants on Monday, June 21 at 9 p.m. EST.
