{The ABCs of Saving} X: eXamine Your Progress

January 28, 2011

Welcome to the ABCs of Savings! Each day we’ll be discussing another money saving topic, each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet. Be sure to subscribe via RSS or email so you don’t miss any steps along the way. You can read the full alphabet of posts here (updated as they are posted).

X: Examine Your Progress

Okay… it doesn’t exactly start with the letter X, but it’s pretty close.  Today’s tip is a pretty simple one. Examining your progress simply means checking in on yourself from time to time.  You might ask yourself a few questions:

  • Are you truly saving money? How much?
  • Is it worth your time?
  • Are you less stressed about how much you’re spending?
  • Have you made strides toward your savings goals?
  • What can you do to save more?
  • What saving methods should you give up?

If we just jump into couponing and saving money and don’t take a good hard look at where we’re going, we could end up chasing our tails! Sure, chasing after deals can be fun and very rewarding. Just be sure to take a few minutes to reset once in a while. Pat yourself on the back. Make adjustments. And keep on saving!
