Celebrate Her Beauty :: Wigs for Kids Day

October 18, 2012

She’s always been known for her hair. She had so much when she was born that the nurses on the maternity floor tied purple yarn in it when she was a day old. She was sporting pigtails before she could roll over, and it was down her back by the time she was three.

We’ve always told her that she’s beautiful… because she is. We’ve reminded her that it’s not just her outside that’s beautiful. She has a beautiful heart and a kind spirit. God’s love just radiates from this little lady.

A couple of months ago, she told us that she wanted her hair cut short. As short as her friend Millie’s. Oh my. It almost gave Mommy a heart attack to hear her say the words short hair. It seemed really important to her, so we were willing to talk about it. (Well, Daddy took a little more convincing than Mommy did.) Then my friend Amy’s sweet daughter inspired us.

We learned about Wigs for Kids and watched videos of kids who received donated hair. We were amazed. Emma was determined to help by donating her own hair.

This morning she did.

We are so proud of this little lady. She’s excited to help someone else feel better about themselves by sharing her gift. That just makes her even more beautiful.
