I just found out that Kroger has updated their digital coupon policy. Kroger used to allow some e-coupons to be stacked with manufacturers’ coupons for even better savings. Kroger just released this information about e-coupons:
Q: Can I use paper coupons as well as digital coupons on the same item?
A: Limit of one coupon per item. Digital coupons and paper coupons may not be combined on the purchase of a single item.
While I don’t mind this being the store’s policy, it causes a bit of a dilemma. I currently have several e-coupons stored on my Kroger card. I have a horrible time keeping track of what’s on my card at any given time. I’m not sure that I can avoid using both without TONS of extra work. Even if I did keep track, I’m sure I would miss something.
The second problem is that e-coupons don’t double like paper coupons do. That means that there are times when my paper coupon makes for a better deal than the e-coupon. However, I have no control over this. I can’t tell the cashier to NOT use my e-coupon. So I’m forced to use the e-coupon and miss out on the deal with the paper coupon.
I realize that the e-coupons will eventually expire. Then this won’t be a problem. But, until then, what’s a girl to do? Any ideas??

I guess I would either stop using the ecoupons completely, or take a quick glance of my ecoupons before I leave to shop. I always keep a list of my ecoupons in my “shopping binder”.
I’m planning to stop loading them on my card. I just have to be patient while the existing ones are stuck there!
I know if you loaded through the Kroger website, you should be able to remove them. I also know that at some Kroger’s the computer software has been updated to not allow a paper Q to be used with a e-coupon. It beeps and the cashier must override it for it go through.
Also, I’m not sure it would work perfectly, but when I punch in my phone # instead of having them scan my card, my e-coupons never come off.
Hmm… Good idea! I’ve loaded the Kroger, Cellfire, and Shortcuts coupons. I’ve never tried to take any off though. I may need to investigate!
