CVS: Free Revlon Makeup

January 28, 2011

My husband stopped at CVS last night to pick up a prescription. He handed me the coupons from the end of the receipt, knowing that I’d be anxiously waiting to see what gems he snagged. My heart did a little flip-flop when I saw the $5 off any 2 Revlon cosmetic items coupon. I knew that CVS was having a big ole makeup clearance! Here’s what I ended up with:

1 Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara (75% off) – $2.69 (regular $10.79)
1 Revlon Age Defying Concealer (75% off) – $2.49 (regular $9.99)
4 Extra Dessert Delights Gum – $.67 each (free after this coupon)
Final Price:  $.18 plus tax

If you’re out and about, it might be worth your time to stop by CVS and scan your card at the in-store printing machine. If you get the $5 off 2 Revlon coupon, you could snag some sweet deals! Here are a few other 75% off items that would be free or close-to-free with the coupon.

Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick – $2.45

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Foundation – $3.49

Revlon ColorStay Lip Glaze – $2.37

Revlon ColorStay Overtime Sheer Lip Color – $2.70

Revlon SuperLustrous Lip Color – $2.20

Revlon Nail Color – $1.37

Is it only the Extra Dessert gum that’s on sale? I scanned an Extra Polar Ice package, and it came up as $1.29. There weren’t any signs up in the St. C. store for this sale, but the Orbit had 3/$2 signs posted.

It was only the dessert ones, which is okay because they’re a good alternative to candy for me. They’re WAY up high to the left of the registers (next to that e-reader display but higher). I had to hunt for them, but they had a bunch.

I purchased 2 of the Extra dessert, a Physicians Formula blush, and 2 ROC products, had (2) .75 coupons and a $10 off Physicians Formula from the CVS scanning machine. The cashier would not scan my coupons because they were more than the product. The Physicians Formula was 2.99. She manually put in the discount for the gum and the makeup coupons. Is this normal?

If I’m not mistaken, I think it’s the CVS policy to manually adjust coupons down to the value of what you’re buying. I would definitely take the time to contact the corporate office and let them know what happened. They’ve always been great about contacting my store if there’s a discrepancy.

I used to work for CVS and it is policy to adjust the coupon to the value of the item your buying. Actually the register will usually reject them right on the spot if it’s going to be a negitive balance. If it doesn’t then it freaks out and will even sometimes void the transaction on it’s own.
