Kroger: Saved 49% and Stocked Up

June 19, 2010

After our Walmart shopping trip, Emma and I headed to Kroger. We ended up buying food for two week’s worth of meals. My guess is that we’ll only need milk and a few produce items next week. That seems to be my shopping trend lately, and it’s working pretty well budget-wise and sanity-wise!  Here’s what we got at Kroger today. (My shopping helper was willing to pose for me today!)

Spent: $71.35
Saved $70.60 (49%)

The best deal today was the Turkey Hill iced tea (half gallons). They’re on sale for $1 each this week.  There was a coupon for $1.00 off 2 in the 6/13 RedPlum insert, making them 50¢ each. We were also able to use a $4 off $20 produce purchase coupon that I got in the mail from Kroger. We stocked up on produce for our Father’s Day dinner tomorrow night and for the rest of the week.

Most of the other deals are detailed in the Kroger deals from this week. Those end tomorrow (6/20), and I’ll post the next week’s deals after that.

By the way, I also bought a bag of black beans so that I could try Erin’s Black Bean Brownies. I’ve got to get them soaked first, but I’d like to try them this week. She claims that they pack a fiber/protein punch! If you’re interested, she has the recipe on her $5 Dinners website. The recipe is actually for Black Bean Coconut Brownies, but I can’t bring myself to ruin a good brownie with coconut!
