So if you’ve been following our ABCs of Savings series, you might remember that our letter Q was Quit Beating Yourself Up. I had to follow my own advice today.
We stopped by Kroger just to pick up newspapers and the $1 pineapples. Just newspapers and pineapples. That was all.
Until we got there.

First, I noticed a couple of good meat sales, and my mind started turning. I knew I didn’t have a menu plan for the week. I knew that I needed a menu plan for the week. So I decided to plan the week’s menu.
In my head.
In the middle of Kroger.
So while I normally don’t step foot in the store without a rock-solid plan and a fistful of coupons, this was just one of those days… one of those weeks. But we walked out of the store spending around $60 and we have a plan for this week. (I just need to get it on paper!)
If you were expecting to see some amazing deals and coupon matchups in this post, I hope you’re not too disappointed. I just wanted to share this trip with you to remind you that we’re all human, we all have THOSE weeks, and we all need to give ourselves a break from time to time. Are you with me?

I’m with you!
By the way, I bought the Columbus Dispatch at Riesbeck’s today, and it had both the Red Plum AND SmartSource inserts! I practically did a happy dance right there in the store! I hope they keep it coming.
I got one at Kroger today and about did back flips… both inserts! Wahoo! Now I don’t have to make a decision about whether to buy both and spend the extra $4 (who likes to do that?) or just buy one. SOOOOO excited!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I need to hear this this week!!!
I wasn’t sure if I should even post it, but I figured I wasn’t the only one who just had THOSE DAYS sometimes. Didn’t want you guys thinking I only shopped bargains with coupons all the time. Sometimes life just gets in the way, doesn’t it?
Sometimes you just have to shop. When you have a job, a little girl, and blog, something has to give. Shopping is the least important!
That’s the way I see it too, Shelly. Sometimes shopping gives. And I have to be okay with it. We ate well (healthy) this week, and that’s what matters.
