The bad news….
Emma has an ear infection, and we had to pick up an antibiotic for her at CVS today.
The good news….
Emma’s mommy happened to have a coupon for a $10 gift card with a new prescription.
I guess we can find the silver lining in there somewhere! I wasn’t planning to stop at CVS today, so my trip cost me a little more out-of-pocket than usual. But we ended up with some needed items. Here’s what we got.
Starting ECBs: $7.00
Merchandise Total: $48.84
Out-of-Pocket Cost: $5.20 plus tax
Ending ECBs: $13.99
Savings: $43.64 (89%) plus increased ECBs by $6.99
Transaction #1
What I Bought:
1 Finish Dishwasher Tabs (not on sale but needed!) – $5.99
4 Bayer Aspirin – $4.00
1 Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste – $3.50
1 U by Kotex – $4.99
1 GoodNites – $8.49
1 Huggies travel sized wipes – $2.00
1 Dove Chocolate Bar – $.89
1 Children’s Claritin Liquid – $9.99

-$1.50 off GoodNites coupon from 4/18 SmartSource insert
-$2.00 off Huggies diapers & wipes CVS coupon from previous receipt

–$3.00 off Children’s Claritin printable coupon
-$3.00 off Claritin coupon from the coupon printing machine
-$7.00 ECBs from last week
-$10.00 Gift Card from the pharmacy
Out-of-Pocket Cost: $4.71 plus tax
ECBs Earned: $14.49 ($3 Claritin, $3 GoodNites, $4.99 Kotex, $3.50 Crest)
Transaction #2
Bought 1 Complete Contact Solution with rain check – $8.99
Used $8.50 ECBs from Transaction #1
Out-of-Pocket Cost: $.49 plus tax
ECBs Earned: $9.00
I ended up spending a bit more than usual out-of-pocket, but I also increased by ECBs by more than what I spent. I think I can live with that!
If you don’t have some of the coupons I’ve listed, be sure to check out the Saving & Giving Coupon Database. There might be alternate locations where you can find the same coupons!

Another great shopping trip. I hope Emma feels better soon.
Thanks, Karen! I think the antibiotic kicked in already. She was pretty perky this evening!
I love increasing extra bucks. I saved $97 this week, spent $2.28 and increased my Extra Bucks by $2.50.
Who would have ever thought we’d be saving this kind of money at CVS? I used to think it was a high-priced drugstore. Now I know better! Great job on your shopping!
