Walmart: Spent $14.99 on $58.49 Worth of Groceries

June 19, 2010

My husband is a bigfan of Walmart. He says that there’s just something about a store where you can buy spark plugs and underwear under the same roof. We don’t really shop much at Walmart now that we get most of our personal care items free or almost free at CVS and Rite Aid. But we made a quick stop today to snag a few deals.  Here’s what we got.

Merchandise Value: $58.49
Out-of-Pocket Cost: $14.99
Savings: $43.50 (74%)

2 Simply GoGurt – $2.25 each
Used 2 FREE coupons (mine and my mom’s) from a promo
Final Price: FREE

2 STP Fuel Injector Cleaner – $2.67 each
Used 2 $2.00 off printable Facebook coupons
Final Price: 67¢ each

2 Stayfree Thin Pads – $2.62 each
Used 2 $2.00 off coupons from 3/28 RedPlum insert
Final Price: 62¢ each

Propane – $2.86
This wasn’t on sale. It just makes for an interesting picture when you have fuel injector cleaner and propane surrounding your Stayfree packages. This is probably the best illustration of my husband’s Walmart theory.

2 KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce – $1.67 each
Used 2 $1.00 off printable coupons
Final Price: 67¢ each

2 Fruit Chiller Tubes – $2.00 each
Used 2 $1.00 off printable coupons
Final Price: $1.00 each

3 Carefree Pantiliners – 94¢ each
Used 2 $1.00 off coupons from 4/25 SmartSource insert
Used 1 $1.00 off coupon from ????? (Can’t remember where it came from!)
Final Price: All free plus 18¢ overage

Finish Dishwasher Soap – $4.42
I forgot my $1.00 off coupon at home!!!!!  But there is one HERE.
Final Price: full price
*I normally would have passed this up and just waited until the next shopping trip. But my dishwasher was home, full of dirty dishes, and we were out of soap!

2 Dentyne Pure – 96¢ each
Used 2 $1.00 off coupons from 6/13 SmartSource insert
Final Price: Free plus 8¢ overage

2 Pull-Ups Travel Wipes – $1.64 each
Used 2 $1.00 off coupons from 6/13 SmartSource insert
(There’s also a printable HERE if you don’t have the insert.)
Final Price: 64¢ each
*These are great even if you don’t have a baby. We use them for faces, hands, dog paws, and all kinds of things!

6 Benadryl Anti-Itch Sticks – $2.38 each
Used 3 $5.00 off 2 coupons from 4/11 RedPlum insert
Final Price: Free plus 72¢ overage
*No, we aren’t THAT itchy! We will keep 2 and put the other 4 in with our food pantry donations.

2 Schick Disposable Razors (12-packs) – $1.97 each
Used 2 $2.00 off coupons from 5/23 SmartSource insert
Final Price: Free plus 6¢ overage
These are also headed for the food pantry.

Johnson & Johnson Baby Cotton Swabs – $1.58
Used $1.00 off baby item coupon from 6/6 RedPlum insert
Final Price: 58¢
This is headed for a baby shower gift basket.

Walmart also still has 24-packs of Coke and Pepsi products on sale for $5 each. This is a GREAT deal and probably won’t be around for long!

You did great at Walmart. Don’t you hate to run out of something and have to pay full price? I feel like I could kick myself.

Thanks! I don’t shop there much, just when I find a bunch of good coupon matchups in the same week. I can’t BELIEVE I left the $1 off coupon for the Finish at home!!

Hey, you did great the only way I do well with coupons at Walmart is to leave my daughter at home and STAY focused, or else I walk out with a dress for my dog, a ton of clothes I don’t need and a huge bill! LOL

I think it worked to my advantage that the store was PACKED! I didn’t have the patience to navigate the clothing or pet departments, but I know exactly what you mean! You just walk by the girls’ clothes, and some cute little tee just calls your daughter’s name! 🙂
