30-Day Giving Challenge: Day 5 Giveaway

November 5, 2010

I don’t know about you, but the 30-Day Giving Challenge has been off to quite a start! I love hearing the feedback on Facebook, Twitter, and the 30-Day Giving Challenge website.

We’ve had another company partner with our team with another giveaway. Remember, the 30-Day Giving Challenge team isn’t keeping any of the donated items. We’re each finding homes for our items by way of donating them to local charities. It’s been a huge blessing to see companies come forward to help us make these donations.

Inspire4Less has partnered with the 30-Day Giving Challenge this year. They’ve sent each blogger a $50 gift card for Inspire4Less.com as well as a prize package of items from their site. My package included some cute birthday cards…

… a tin of 3 Christmas CDS…

… the Stormie Omartian book Seven Prayers that Will Change Your Life Forever…

… as well as a box of Christmas cards and a decorative pie plate. I’ll be donating these to a few different charities locally.

The winner of this giveaway will receive all of those goodies plus the $50 Inspire4Less gift card. If you win, you could choose to bless someone (or multiple someones) with these items or use them for your family.

To Enter:

  • Leave a comment. You can share a giving story if you’d like, but it’s not required.

Extra Entries (Leave a separate comment for each.):

  • Subscribe to Saving & Giving via RSS or Email.
  • Like Inspire4Less on Facebook or follow on Twitter.

This giveaway will end on Sunday (11/7) at 9 p.m. EST. The winner will be drawn randomly, and notified via email.

The other bloggers leading the 30-Day Giving Challenge are also giving away $50 Inspire4Less gift cards and prize packs. Stop by each of their sites for 3 more chances to win!

I have a great giving story. After reading “The Treasure Principle” in our Sunday School class our Sunday School leaders gave each couple in the class a check for a different amount and asked us to use it for good. It was AMAZING how difficult it was to give someone elses money away in a way that felt worthy. Almost everyone in the class gave away what they got plus some and the stories that came out of it were truely remarkable. We hope to one day do this with our children when they are old enough to understand.

Last year for lent I took time out of each day to do for someone else, one day I went to a friends house and cleaned all of the winter dog poop up out of her yard, another day I sewed a quilt for nonprofit charity (yes in one day), Another day I let my self into a friends house while she was gone and cleaned her house. It was one of the most rewarding and tiring times of my life, and I would do it all over again. The best part was I posted every day on facebook and it lead to others doing “nice” things too!

My favorite way to give is with Habitat for Humanity. It’s amazing to see how quickly a home can be built because of many hands working together! And it’s fun to write a note of well-wishes onto one of the 2×4’s!

Finished the key chains I made for the men who help in a local food pantry. I felt so proud of myself to get the ladies’ gifts wrapped as well. Then made Watergate Salad for tomorrow’s evening banquet. I was actually ready for something a whole day ahead — unheard of! At a lovely birthday celebration (for me) one daughter asked if we wanted to meet the oldest for lunch tomorrow. Because I was obedient to the voice of the Lord who prompted me to get everything finished, I am free. It’s great when God nudges you and then rewards you because you obeyed.
