Remember the shopping trip where we went to Walmart to buy food pantry items for kids? We had a chance to deliver them today. We have a food pantry donation basket at our church, so it’s super-convenient to drop things off!
Here’s what we ended up bagging up to drop off in the basket. We had some items before we went shopping…
And we were able to buy all this to add to it….
I love that these are kid-friendly donations. With summer vacation coming, the food pantries are going to need to have some extra supplies on hand to make up for some of the breakfasts and lunches eaten at school.
Here’s the food pantry basket after we were done with it. 🙂 THAT’S more like it!
So now’s the time to break out the coupons and go couponing for good! Don’t forget to check out the Champions for Kids website or follow them on Facebook or Twitter. They’re sharing some more simple service project ideas like this one.

We participated in this program too and absolutely loved being part of it. We received a tour of the food pantry and found out that protein and toothbrushes are most requested.
Jennifer says
Oh that’s good to know!! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for protein, and we usually have an abundance of toothbrushes. We’ll have to dig some out to donate. Thanks!

I love that you were able to make the basket overflow!
Jennifer says
Thanks Sarah! 🙂 We have a couple in our church who faithfully empty it and take it to the food pantry. It’s an awesome (and EASY) way to donate!

Really cute gift basket, and great point about the increased need for lunches during summer.
Jennifer says
Thanks, Beeb. I don’t think many people think about the fact that kids who normally qualify for free lunch (and breakfast at some schools) will be eating at home over the summer.

Coupons make it so easy to donate!

So true! I always snatch up things that are free or almost-free with coupons, even if we’re not going to use them. I know that someone can. 🙂
