The world’s largest market research company is opening the door to you and everyone in your household to make your opinions count as a member of the National Consumer Panel.
This NCP provides you with a hand-held scanner. Whenever you shop, use the scanner to scan the barcodes on all of your purchases. Once a week you submit your purchase information. You used to need a land line to participate, but that’s no longer the case.
What’s in it for you? You’ll earn gift points that are redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics, jewelry, household items, toys, and more. You’ll also earn entries into sweepstakes.
This might be a fun way to make your opinions heard. If you have children, you might even assign the scanning duty to them. Then everyone can share in the rewards.

I became a member of the panel a few months ago and found out very quickly that it wasn’t for me. I opted out of the program within the first week. It was going to be very time consuming as it required putting in the quantity, price, and coupons used for each individual item scanned. It was not just a matter of scanning one item right after another (like checking out library books.) Also, I would suggest to anyone interested that they check out the Panel’s web site to see what prizes are available and how many points it takes to earn them. This is just my experience, but I thought I would share it.
Good to know! I’ve heard from some people that they didn’t like it and from others that they loved it. I think it depends on how it fits with your lifestyle and personality. Thanks for the feedback!
