You all know that we’re HUGE Veggie Tales fans, so Emma was thrilled to review the lastest Veggie Tales DVD It’s a Meaningful Life. The movie tells the story of Stewart’s (Larry’s) injury as a young football player and how that injury cost him fame and fortune. He keeps wondering “what if” and has a chance to view his life as if the injury had never happened.
I loved the retelling of the story It’s a Wonderful Life in a way that is understandable for kids. It’s not often that I get choked up over a Veggie Tales movie, but I admit this one had me a bit teary-eyed by the end. Emma loved the fact that Stewart’s daughter’s name was Emma. 🙂 We were able to have a nice discussion about life not always happening the way we plan it but the way that God plans it.
We also enjoyed “Meant to Be,” the Steven Curtis Chapman song that was recorded just for It’s a Meaningful Life. “The song is really shaped around, what I want to say, especially to children that wonder, ‘does my life have any meaning?’ To be able to say as I have said to so many orphans in China or even to my own children, ‘you are special, and you are meant to be because God has put us here.” Steven’s heart truly shines through.
You can find It’s a Meaningful Life in stores now or on the Big Idea website. You can also download a free family discussion guide for parents. What a great way to dive deeper into the topic of contentment!
