Gratituesday: My Dishwasher

June 29, 2009

Is it possible to be thankful for your dishwasher not working? Mine is not working right now. My dad and husband have been trying a few different things to see if they can get it operational again. But, in the meantime, I am washing dishes *GASP* by hand. I know, I know…. You can hardly imagine it. But it’s true.

There are a few things I’ve noticed as I’ve washed dishes by hand over the past few days. First, my nails are cleaner and brighter white than they have been for a long time. Second, washing dishes is a pretty peaceful, soothing task. I’m usually alone in the kitchen, and it’s quiet. My hands are soaking in warm, sudsy water. It’s not all that bad.

Now, I know that I’m completely spoiled. This is the first house where we’ve had a dishwasher, and I absolutely love it. I’ll be very thankful when it’s working. However, I’m not in a hurry to have it fixed. Whenever they figure out what’s wrong, I’ll go back to using the dishwasher. But… for now… I’ll just be thankful for some quiet time washing dishes.

For a healthy dose of gratitude, stop by Gratituesday hosted by Heavenly Homemakers.
