Rose’s Giving Story & Purely Products Giveaway

November 12, 2010

I’ve loved reading your comments on the past few 30-Day Giving Challenge giveaway entries. Can I just tell you that you’re quite an inspiring bunch!? My heart was especially warmed by an email I received from Rose, a reader who I’ve become friends with over the past year. Rose writes:

You know I believe that God gives us choices but He intervenes when He sees it is necessary. I have cheated death twice in my life and I often wonder why God keeps me around. My grandmother always said my task on earth was not done…  So with that in thought I took part of your challenge (I forget some days) and each morning I thank God for what I have, what He has forgiven me for and what He has made me capable of doing.

But to share with you, I wanted you to know that your challenge has made me start seeing life a little better and trying to do more for others instead of myself. The other day I was in line with my groceries and all these coupons and this older man came into the line behind me. He only had bananas and milk and I thought… Is that three dollars all he has? I am going to save more than that with my coupons.

So I told the clerk to please add his purchase to my ticket.  The lady looked and me and said Are you sure? Then the man said Are you sure? Why is it when you try to help someone, they ask Are you sure?I just continue to do small things when I can, but the little old man took me up on my offer, got his purchase and said on his way out, May God walk with you each step you take. So i share with you my walk with God..thank you.

Aren’t those the little moments that truly define us? Thanks for sharing your story, Rose!

Day 12 Giveaway: Purely Products Gift Pack

I’ve been encouraged by the companies who are partnering with our 30-Day Giving Challenge team to sponsor giveaways. Remember, the 30-Day Giving Challenge team isn’t keeping any of the donated items. We’re each finding homes for our items by way of donating them to local charities. It’s been a huge blessing to see companies come forward to help us make these donations.

Today’s sponsor is Purely Products. Purely Products is a company that makes clean, healthy living easier. They’ve created products to help clean the air and surfaces in your home and away from home.  My favorite part of the way Purely Products does business though is their heart for giving. Purely Products donates a percentage of all company sales to support diaperLove™, a non-profit organization founded to provide diapers and hygiene products to children in need. With every Purely Products purchase, you can take small steps that make a big difference towards clean, healthy living and at the same time, make a big difference to a child.

Purely Products has sent each of the 30-Day Giving Challenge bloggers a gift pack including a Healthy CFL bulb (an air purifier wrapped in a lightbulb), a Healthy Night Light (an air purifier inside a night light), and a Pocket Purifier (a handheld germ-eliminating light). One winner will receive a gift pack of these items from Purely Products.

What a beautiful story from Rose. My FIL is very ill and has been in the hospital for about 6 weeks now with a rare disease. One day while we were visiting, we went to the hospital cafeteria for lunch. A young man there tried to buy some lunch for himself and his debit card was denied. We paid for his meal so he could eat. I am sure it made us just as happy if not more, than it made him.

Money has been a bit tight lately. With Christmas coming though we have really wanted to give more. I coupon and find deals everywhere. We have a nice stockpile of items that we use regularly and so now when we find deals that are close to free we still buy the items and donate them to a local program that helps families in the area. This is one way we were able to help give more even on a tight budget.
