I’m so excited! Tomorrow starts our Post Bowls of Hope food pantry collection drive. I decided to recruit the help of the people who are involved with our Saturday night Ignite service at our church. I’ve never seen a more generous, caring group.
I talked to them last Saturday night about how during summer vacation many kids in our community have no access to the free and reduced lunch programs that their schools offer during the year.
We talked to some of our church members who help operate the food pantry, and we found out what they need most right now. We let people know to focus on peanut butter, canned fruit, and baked beans. They also said that cereal is always a good thing to donate.
Remember our Walmart shopping trip last week? The studying of the Post cereal boxes?
My family started off the collection bin with the three boxes of Post cereals that we bought at Walmart last week.
We stacked reminder cards in the middle of each table and encouraged everyone to take one home to help them remember to bring back their food this week.
I’m really excited to see what all we can collect to send to the food pantry! I’ll continue to keep you updated on our Simple Service Project food drive. In the meantime, why not organize one in your area? You can get more information about the Post Bowls of Hope program here:
