Sweetpea Beauty Review & Giveaway

August 4, 2010

Once upon a time, there lived a royally sour blueberry, a fair rhubarb maiden, and a dastardly deceptive mirror!

What girl doesn’t like a good princess story? And who wouldn’t love a princess story whose characters are charming fruits and vegetables? That’s what we found when we watched the newest VeggieTales movie Sweetpea Beauty: A Girl After God’s Own Heart.

Emma and I had a girls’ night in last night and watched the entire DVD, which includes the short Snooderella and the Silly Song Pants! In all seriousness… Before I go on, you HAVE to watch the Pants! Silly Song video.

We laughed out loud when we watched the song for the first time! In fact, there were many places throughout the movie where Emma was giggling and a few where I heard a true belly laugh from her. In the midst of the silliness, she also caught the message of the movie. We were able to have a great conversation about how it doesn’t really matter how you look on the outside, but it’s your heart that God is really concerned with. I’m sure part of that message goes over her five-year-old head, but we’ve already started teaching her that she’s beautiful inside and out. This video just reinforced our efforts.

In my opinion, Big Idea, the company that produces the VeggieTales videos, hit a home run with Sweetpea Beauty. It’s entertaining with a great message for girls, and it has some hilarious allusions to other fairy tales that keep the adults smiling too. The song Beautiful for Me, (an original song recorded just for this movie) by Nicole Nordeman is fantastic!

If you’re interested in ordering Sweetpea Beauty for your little princess, you can get it from Big Idea for $14.99 (HERE). You’ll also find music from the movie and other products to reinforce the idea of inner beauty. If you want to do some other shopping on the site, you can enter the code ship225 at checkout to receive free shipping on orders over $40.

We love the Veggietales! Chic-fil-A has Veggietales from time to time as prizes in their kids meals. The most recent one was a music cd. My 5 year-old daughter’s favorite song is a polka song about an alpine veterinarian. She loves to blast it in the car and it drives my husband nuts!
