Is anyone else here a master list-maker? I can make a to-do list that would make the most ambitious person nervous, even if they have 35 hours in their day.
Then I can really beat myself up when everything on the list doesn’t get done. I’m guessing I’m not the only one with this super power!
Yesterday I decided to turn this whole process on its head. I made a GOT DONE list. As I went through my day, I made a list of the things I got done. I listed some things I accomplished for my day job, some housekeeping tasks I tackled, some homeschool supervision work I did… You get the idea.
It wasn’t a race to see how much I could get done. I didn’t have a goal of twenty things I wanted to accomplish. Instead it was proof. It was just what I needed when my mind started the I DIDN’T GET MUCH DONE TODAY game. There it was in black and white. I did get things done. It wasn’t a wasted day.
The emotional and mental weight of the day-to-day can be a bit much right now. We’ve never lived through a time like this. Be gentle with yourselves, friends. Give yourself grace. Remind yourself that you are doing the best you can with where you are right now. ![]()
