I was inspired by a recent post from my friend Jann and decided to follow in her shoes, sharing five things that you probably don’t know about me. Here goes!
#1: I’m a closet neat freak. You wouldn’t know it to walk into my house. While I keep things somewhat picked up most of the time, seeing blankets left unfolded on the couch and mail left on the kitchen counter makes me a little twitchy! This house holds FAR more clutter than I like. But I choose to spend my time doing other things. I’m just decluttering 10 minutes at a time and being okay with the house not being perfect.
#2: I stink at follow through. I’m an idea person to the core. Whenever I find time to sit still and let my mind relax, I end up grabbing a paper and pencil or my phone’s notepad so I can capture the ideas that flow. Hit me with a problem, and I’ll hash out ideas with you! But lately I’ve realized that I need to have the follow-through to go with those ideas. That means weeding out the good ideas from the great ideas and focusing on the ones that matter most. It’s a process!
#3: I gave up sugar a couple of months ago. Now that was a tough one! I had been researching the Trim Healthy Mama eating plan before my dad’s heart surgery. Once he was recovering, we all realized we needed to make some changes. We have an awesome local support group on Facebook, and there are lots of yummy desserts that we can make. That makes it feel doable long-term to me. We’ve been doing THM for a couple of months and loving the results so far! I’m sure I’ll be sharing more about that in the coming months.
#4: I have an addiction to cute office supplies. I probably should tell my husband that if he wants to take me on a date, Staples and Office Max might just top my list. 😉 Somehow cute office supplies make me feel more organized (see #1) and happy. I mean…. Seriously…. Manilla file folders don’t scream HAPPY, people! I’ll take my Erin Condren planner, floral file folders, and a decorative metal floral pencil cup any day. (Yes, I do have all those things. Don’t judge.)
#5: I read everything. No, really. Everything. It started with the cereal boxes as a kid and has grown from there. My husband will often give me the side-eye, questioning how in the world I knew some fact. 99% of the time, it’s something I’ve read on a flyer, sign, or billboard. I can also read upside down. (Fair warning if you’re ever sitting across the table from me!) I don’t mean to. I just do. However, reading everything does come in handy when someone wants help finding information about a topic. I go into research junkie mode and dig up everything I can find.
There you have it. Five quirky things about yours truly. (Though as I searched for a picture, I realized that I have very few of just me. I guess I’ll cheat and make that Thing #6.) Feel free to jump in and share some little-known fact about yourself in the comments.
I have some friends who are joining me in sharing some “Five Things” posts with us. They’ll be linking up their posts here as the week goes on. So be sure to stop back and check them out! If you’re a blogger, jump in and add your own “Five Things” post. We’d love to get to know you!
