This post is brought to you by Walmart’s Great Values Naturals line and The Motherhood. All opinions are – as always – honest and my own.
I sprayed down the shower, let it sit for a few minutes, and absolutely HAD to turn on the exhaust fan and open the window. The fumes were horrible. Since then, I’ve been on the hunt for more natural cleaning products.
Does the whole issue of more natural cleaning make anyone else’s head spin? Trying to figure out which ingredients to avoid and how to mix your own cleaner and how to get your products to not streak your glass…. The list of things to figure out feels a little overwhelming sometimes.
While I’m stressing about what I should and shouldn’t be using, my wallet starts screaming at me when I try to buy healthier cleaning products. If I can’t find things at a local store (which is often since we’re not in a big city), I have to order them online. So add some shipping to an already higher price for products. Ouch.
What’s a mom to do?
Walmart has always been a money-saving resource for buying greener cleaning products. Now Walmart has launched their own Great Values Naturals line of natural cleaning products to help us with our money-saving vs. green cleaning dilemma. {Insert loud cheering here! Yay!}
This new line of cleaners is plant-based and contains no harmful chemicals or toxins. There also isn’t any irritating fragrance or bleach added. That means no more opening the windows to let the fumes out while we’re cleaning. It means the cleaners are actually killing odors rather than just covering them up. It also means that we can clean up after our new puppy without harming her or our family. (She’s getting better, but she’s not quite there yet!)
The best part is that they’re affordable. Whew. Check out these prices.
- Great Value Naturals Liquid Laundry Detergent :: $8.97 for a 100 oz. bottle (64 loads)
- Great Value Naturals Multi-Surface Cleaner :: $2.47 for a 32 oz. sprayer
- Great Value Naturals Glass & Window Cleaner :: $1.98 for a 32 oz. sprayer
- Great Value Naturals Automatic Dishwasher Gel :: $3.97 for a 75 oz. bottle
Those are prices that I can get on board with, especially when I know the products are safer for my family.
Walmart is able to keep the price down (compared to similar products) because they can buy in such large quantities. That lets them negotiate lower costs with manufacturers. They also don’t spend money on advertising and media. So you won’t see these new products on billboards or commercials. You also won’t see coupons for these products. Other companies have to build these advertising costs into the product price, making the products cost more. Instead, Walmart it using social media and word of mouth to spread the word.
Walmart also plans in the works to expand their green cleaning product line. In the next 12-24 months, they’re hoping to add dish soap (for washing by hand), toilet bowl cleaner, shower cleaner, and floor cleaner.
